That is not an unusual takeoff. The reason that he repositioned the helicopter before he took off was because he had a high gross weight in the helicopter and he needed to take off into the wind and he needed room to get out of ground effect for the helicopter to fly. Helicopters need a little runway room for them to liftoff just like an airplane does when the helo is at a high gross weight. Great video. The backseat passenger waved at you!

Good hovering sequence, very smooth...and they did it all without a tail rotor! (The title didn't make it clear this was the "NOTAR" version of this helo.)
