Due to recent events in which a lot of you know, I came upon an idea. Why not if someone is down just to post it on this thread? The things you guys helped me out with is are so appreciated! This is like one big happy family if you ask me. Yes I'am aware we have not met in person. But we are all very supportive. Doesn't matter the problem big or small, it always helps to let it out.

Good Idea for a topic...
I am really down about my grandmother. She has an advanced strain of temperal lobe dementia. That means that in a year or so, she will not really remember anything. She won't be able to drive, write, do math, or...do anything. She is one of the best people I know, she always watched us when my father was at work during the summer. I am writing her letters, so she can remember who I am, and I really want her to be happy.
Let's hope that someone finds a cure for this horrible disease.

I'am sorry to hear about you'r grandmother, grandmothers in my opinion always rock! Whenever you go to their home they always spoil you. And just spend that good quality time with you. I loved those days! Both of my grandmothers are still alive but in Europe, I see them maybe once every two years

. I really do hope they'll find a cure for such a horrible thing! I wish you the best TWA727!

I'm was at the airport the other day and i was having a coffee with my dad which is located near a terminal gate, well me and my dad where talking about how the sydney airport is a very comfortable place to be, when all i hear is crying.. A large group of people saying god bye to loved ones. I said to my dad that i guess its normal for them to cry while they say good bye, But the crying going on was like very bad every one in the group of at least 50 was crying.I was doing the wrong thing by staring at the large group when i spotted my friend in the group. I walked up to her and said hello and ask her why all her friends and family where crying and she told me that most of the people there are all going to fly to Syria to try and get as close as possible to lebanon to find loved ones. A massive chill went through my body. i couldn't help but feel depressed after the information i was told. I gave her a hug and told her everything was going to be ok. but will it be?

At least you have a grandmother. I lost both my grandparents, both great grandparents. My Grandfather died of internal bleeding, we do not accept blood transfusions, bucuse I believe in resurrection. I agree. I totally respect your beliefs MD81, dont doubt that, but people donate blood in the first place to save people such as your grandfather.
You believe in resurrection, I believe in medicine. What you do is completely your choice, but I know I only have a very limited time on this earth and I'm gonna try and stay here as long as possible, because I believe that after I die, thats it for me.

Well, the relgion of Jehovah's Witnesses is often called the truth, let me share a scripture with you, in Revelation 21 4, 5 and it says, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, niether will mourning, nor outcry nor pain be anymore, the former things have passed away.5,And the one seated on the Throne said:"Look! I am making all things new." Also, he says:"Write, because these words are faithful and true." That is one of the most conforting scriptures, anyone woulld want to hear, what do you think?

This explains why we don't accept blood. In the Paradise, everyone will have the perfect body. And no resident will say "I am sick". From a song in the song book, here is a very scary phrase that will happen in Armagedon from the song "Jehovah is our Refuge" Though Thousands, will be falling, Yes right, by your very side.

That phrase gives me a chill, becuse it is telling us to Seek first the Kingdom, and Draw close to Jehovah, as the end of this wicked system of things draws near.
Please note: I am explaining about these last days, and I believe there is confusion here about how we don't accept blood transfusions. The dead are just in a deep sleep, and will be woken up in the Paradise Earth. You never want to here the words "Too Late". I am not online preaching.

Spirit 1st of all I respect you'r religion and you'r choice to practice it. But what if you were in a situation in which you needed just a small blood transfusion to live? Would you take it or would you die? As TWA727 mentioned, you're only around for a very short amount of time on this earth. I respect you'r decision to be a Jehova's witness, but honestly it freaks me out a bit because it does have a "culty" feeling to it. Now don't get me wrong, I'am not bashing or anything like that. But I gotta say I'm with JoeyC on this one.

Well, I will just say one thing. Why do you think my religon is the truth? Why do we call it the truth? Why do you call God just god? He has a name, just like all of us. He is a god. What if there was a boy with no name. We would just say, hay boy can you help me with this, or Hows it going boy? Lets just end your hate against my religon and stay on topic. I have said it many times here in this topic. We do not accept blood transfusions because we believe in resurection. To Jehovah, we are just dust. That is becuse, if we are creamated, what are we? JUST DUST. Adem was made from dust, and to dust he shall return. Adem and Eve disobeyed Jehovah and ate the fruit of the tree God told them not to. Satan tricked them into doing it. Now notice, how if you see Jehovah's Witnesses come to your door, they are nicely dressed, and if your not interested, they just say have a dood day, and walk away? They don't try to talk to you if you don't want them too. We are respectful, don't smoke, don't drink, and don't curse. Now, it is OK to have a drink every once in a while, but not to get drunk on it. I am not bragging. If anyone has another comment, a PM would be highly appreciaited!

Well, at the end of the day, I dont believe Jehova, God or whoever is going to destroy the non-believers and just let Jehovas witnesses live on the earth. You die, thats it. The body goes into the ground, and then the worms eat you, 'yumyum' and then the worms die and trees use the nutrients and they grow and grow nice leaves. And then the leaves fall off during Autumn and then rot and during Spring the trees take the nutrients from the leaves back up again and make blossom, and.......
Oh, and if you're crimated, you burn, turn to ashes, and then thrown over a hillside.
Now, if you have the faith in saying 'I believe I will be resurrected', then thats OK, I'm just saying my views.
I dont personally have the faith to say 'I can kill myself now by refusing medicine, and then I will come back to life again'. And besides, the earth will soon be destroyed by the expanding of the sun as it begins to die (but notice how (to the best of my knowledge) this wasnt directly addressed in the Bible because, to the best of my knowledge, when it was written noone knew about a star's life cycle. Sorry if anything there is wrong, I would back it up with evidence but I dont want to read the whole Bible just to find a quote which suggests otherwise. Anyway, so people may be resurected but then they will all be wiped out when the sun gobbles up the entire earth in one big gulp.
As I see it, we have one chance. Just the one. We can believe we have another but at the end of the day it doesnt mean it will happen. I think we should all die fighting for our lives, to an extent anyway. By refusing medicine on religious grounds appears to me to be throwing your life away. Medicine has been proven, religion hasnt.
And anyway, this makes me think 'what is the meaning of life?'. Is it to please God? To pass your GCSEs? To make lots of money? To make theworld a better place? No. I dont think so. We all die and then those who we try and improve the world for will also die. We are on holiday on the earth, and we can never visit again. If someone offers a way to stay on holiday for longer, dont decline because you think you will be able to come again later on, because as I see it, you wont.
I know this is off topic, but I think as long as things are said respectfully, then is it such a bad thing if we all get to debate about something? Of course, people should still post if they are feeling down here.

I'm surprised you are writing things like this about Spirit's religion. Religion is faith, not really a scientific thought. So maybe we aren't made of dust but religion helps people feel better, and in some cases helps even more then that. That's why there is faith, to think beyond the obvious and beyond science and facts in order to feel like there is a better world. And with it, there
really is a better world. Now just to tell you I'm am very interested in modern sciences and support many scientists of many different times but I don't forget about the religion. Religion is really more complicated and advanced then our modern world but which ever way you believe or if you believe both like me, believe in it STRONGLY. Also, for the part that it doesn't say directly "Blood transfusion isn't allowed", religious books like the Bible don't work this way, the text isn't presented easily as that. You have to understand it. Another good reason to not believe in medicine is that it helps us evolve. Now as we rely on machines and medicines if there won't be any left we will die eventually. BTW I find your religion very interesting and I would like to know more about it.
Now let's summarize it this way, your life is in your own hands. Do what you want to do, as long as you believe in what you do. It doesn't hurt to know a bit about other religions and now why don't we stop talking about this and go ahead with the topic. Spirit, excuse us if we hurt you, no one meant to really do so.

Yes, we have to stick to the topic or it will just be locked and that will be such a shame...As some of you will know. I have been on holiday down in the South of England, but part of the "Holiday" was to see my friend who has terminal brain cancer. she had lung cancer, and had chemotherapy to try and reduce it, but then the surgeons discovered that it has now spread to her brain, and there is nothing they can do except give her steroids to try to prolong her life. She was cheery enough , but she just did not look like the same lady at all as her face had altered due to the side effects of the steroids, as she put it .. it made her look like a squirrel. and her feet were so swollen, that she could not walk..I almost cried when it was time to go and when her husband said that when she was better he would hold a street party (knowing full well that was not going to happen).

the man who is in custody for it was reported asking the neighbours the night she went missing if they had an axe! today he got charged with murder and is being sentenced next week!

I didnt mean it in a hurtful way, and I still say that it is his choice and I totally respect what he believes, but that does not mean I have to agree with it and does not mean I am not allowed to express my views on it either.
This kind of thing makes me feel down. That noone can express their opinions without others becoming upset and then complaining people are being thoughtless because they didnt agree with something someone else believes in. Does that sentence make any sense?
C150 does have a good point. If people can't express their own opinions then what's the point? What has the world come to...? It's like "The Nanny State" taking over the UK at the moment... where Health and Safety rules have completely taken the fun out of everything... apparently everything can harm you now

You even have to wear safety goggles to play conkers. You simply can't say that people "aren't" allowed to express their own opinions. Sometimes these own opinions can come across as hurtful like I said before... but I'm pretty sure they weren't meant that way.

Yeh.. it makes me feel "down" too.

LOL!!
On the note of the topic. I feel down because I had to get up at 10am this morning

Usually I don't get up until 12pm at the earliest!!!

How did this topic stray back to religion? It is about feeling down and we have aired that part of it enough i think..or it is just going to become an ongoing argument with everyone thinking they are right.
Anyway what jumbolvr was saying about the woman who disappeared made me think about a strange thing which happened just a couple of weeks ago.
I was cycling along the towpath on the Monday. and I passed this tent. i thought nothing of it as i guessed the person was in the woods as there seemed to be no one fishing . Anyway I met my friends and we had a cuppa and a chat, and then this guy came along on his bike to say that the tent was there yesterday and that nothing seemed to have been moved, so that was it, off my friend and I walked to the tent. We looked around but nothing there.. a rucksack, some food, bottles of juice, and i went into the woods and gave shout incase someone was hurt maybe . Nothing, but the next minute we looked at the edge of the water and saw a fishing rod. it had been left in.the water. That was enough for us so we phoned the police, who came out. They had a look around too..(bearing in mind that none of us touched anything)..they then sent for the tracker dogs, who found nothing, and finally the underwater team.. but so far we have not heard what the outcome of that was.. but it is odd...and I really hope that no one died...but it is not explained at all...I suppose i went off topic too...sorry!!

The point of this topic is to talk about your problems, or so I take it..You weren't really off-topic and if Religion is part of your 'problems' IMO I don't see how that can be considered off-topic either.

I appreciate what you are saying but the topic went from a good start to everyone putting their point about Spirit's beliefs and their own, or not as the case may be, and it was getting a bit heated.. ..What I am trying to do is to get this topic back on track so if anything is really getting you down please post it ..surely there must be more things which you really feel sad or unhappy about.

Ok, here is one thing...I'm going to spend a day with my mum who I have not spoken or seen properly in 4 years. I'm kind of nervous.

Please don't be nervous. Your mum is probably scared too you know as it is quite a traumatic time for her too...but I am sure you will both be fine .. just smile and be positive...I hope you get on alright as i know it must be very hard for you too, but good luck.

How to not insult people:
Speakers: Install a filter between your brain and your mouth.
Listeners: Install filters in your ears. ok?
I'm verys sad to hear about the woman who was murdered, she looked so happy and nice (at least in the picture), I hope that it will never happen again and especially in your neighbourhood.

I had the same situation with my dad, only we haven't seen eachother in 9 years! Don't worry just speak you'r mind, don't get angry. Ask away and watch she'll give you a good answer. That's what I did with my dad, and now we talk daily, and see eachother about 3 times a weeks. It'll be alright.

Exactly! No need to dwell in the past after you've talked it out. Just look forward to a nice future...
