I have heard a long time ago about an Airbus thread saying that tey will be making an A305 to compete against i dont remember what Boeing Airplane. Can someone please tell me if airbus is still trying to make this Bird? icon_question.gif

I believe you got confused with the A350? Never heard of an A305

Side note: Airbus delivered 305 aircraft last year icon_biggrin.gif

no im not dumb enough to confuse it with the A350. i heard about the aircraft at airliners.net like 4 month ago.

305 sounds like a typing error to me How about a Boeing 878?

Well, A305 could be a possible designation for an A300-500, but I also never heard of that. Furthermore, the A300/A310 line has been closed few months ago.

Found something... A305 apparently might be a replacement for A300 / A310, but won't be flying commercially before 2010

Only a tiny bit about the A305 , quite far down + it's an old link (2003)

I don't think Airbus will build any replacement for the A300 anymore... Because the A330 has already replaced the A300! And when they say the A305 may replace the 7E7 (who is now called the 787)... won't the A350/A370 replace it?

you mean the A350/370 replacing the 787? if thats it i would doubt it due to the high technology used on the 787.
the A350 would be more of a 777 competitor (just the 777-200B and A market) the 772ER's competitor would be the A350-900. and the B772LR and 777-300ER, 773A and B don't have competitors.

The Airbuses have just as higher technology... carriers usually order out of price and loyalty... not pilot/passenger comforts and high technology. If DC10s were still being built, and cost £100.. what do you think they'd buy? ;)

ill give it up to you on chipest aircraft. but remember that airlines are looking for aircrafts that meets their needs too.

Sorry I meant the A350/A370 is the Airbus competitor of the Boeing 787.
