hi there just want to ask anyone here about our Airport runway 27/09 recondition/repatching of holes in it. what causes it and, will it affect incoming flights to and from my hometown? am just a bit worried since ill be leaving for MNL/RPLL and so the topic description asks, or says, WILL IT TAKE LONG??

I know nothing about the work being done to your runway or even about the runway itself. BUT, common sense and logical reasoning can be applied in general.

1. The more holes and defects there are the longer it will take. Logical, right?

2. If this runway is commonly used in day to day operations, then most definitely, it will impact the traffic flow of your airport. More logic.

3. If there are other runways besides the one under repair the impact will be less by an amount equal to the extent the other runways are put to use. Again, common sense logic.

Same here, but to the why something like that happens is quite simple to answer. Even usual roads need maintenance and if you imagine how many heavies are rolling and landing on the tarmac it is quite some force being impinged on it day after day. The tarmac will fatigue because of mechanical forces and weather influence. A small hole will grow bigger each time another plane rolls over it.
Since your airport only has one runway I'd think they'd want to fix it as fast as possible in order not shut down traffic for too long. In Frankfurt they had runway 07L / 25R renewed, starting in early 2003, step by step. Traffic on this runway was shut down from 10:30pm to 6am in order to replace a 15x60m peace of tarmac each night. Each night after traffic was shut down a 70 man team of specialists, an armada of trucks, excavators, milling machines and road rollers went to work, and during the day traffic continued as usual. This procedure was done 300 times to a cost of 34.000.000€ until the entire runway was finished in 2005.
