Well we fly to England to see our family every couple of years, and its about a 10 hour flight so i need lots of stuff to do. I usually buy a couple of books and read them all by the time im there, that and listin to my MP3 player. Hopefully i will have a PSP or something by the time we fly again. What do you guys do to kill time?

Put my PTV to good use! Watch a few of the latest movies, watch some comedies, listen to music. I rarely go to sleep so that's outta the question! Other than that take a walk up and down the cabin - go to the toilet. That pretty much sums it up

Thats why you should never fly old planes on long haul routes, it would drive you crazy my favourite long haul plane i have flown is the 747-400, i want to fly the 777-300 one day as its getting my attention a lot hehe

Well before the days of the I-Pod, I took my laptop and watched videos and such to pass the time. A few of the classic Guns N' Roses video epics later I was at my destination!

No matter what airline I'm on, or aircraft for that matter, I can NEVER sleep during flight. Although staying awake during a 12 hour journey while everyone is asleep is so boring! I normally watch most of the movies, listen to music, do some homework (yes I am sad enough to do even attempt that!). If I get even bored and its near the beginning of the flight I'll talk to some pax near the rear galleys, take some pictures, walk up and down the aisles. I don't stand towards the back for too long though, especially when standing by the emergency exits as my feet get cold

The thing I love though, is standing at the very back of the aircraft looking straight down the aisle and watching the whole aircraft "shake" during light turbulence.

If I am seriously bored, I will make seat to seat calls to which ever family member is sat next to me (on certain aircraft only).

Well for example on my varig flight where there were no ptvs.. (totally bored).... i just slept all the way to NRT
but if theres PTV... (wow staring at it all the time) lol....

PTV, Eat, Drink, Listen to radio..I've never been on a really really long flight (22 hours!) but I can safetly say I've never been bored . Flying is the best part of any holiday.

The last long haul flight I was on, I couldn't sleep as usual.Everyone was asleep in my part of the cabin except for one Irish guy about two rows behind me.Anyway, he had the funniest accent I'd ever heard and he was looking at the moving map and laughing at every place we passed, and we were passing South-East Asia.All I hear for 2 hours is "Bandar Seri Begawan! hehe..HAHAHAHAH" in a crazy Irish accent! It was hilarious! That was 2 hours down, 19 remaining!

The rest of the time was well spent on PTV's!

In the 19yrs I've been flying (I was in my moms belly the firs time I flew) I have NEVER slept on a plane or airport...even on the last trip I made to Madrid (MAD). I just can't sleep...the plane excites me too much. Last time I flew I was awake for almost 35hrs. Woke up at 10am Wenesday morning (flight left at 6am thursday morning) stayed up all day/night headed to the aiport at 2 am (we were about a 2 hrs drive to the aiport (RDU)) got to the aiport played around with the wheelchairs (a couple of other strangers and I raced around) while my family slept for a few minutes...boarded the plane... got to Houston (IAH) at around 10am thursday...got home at almost 12. ate lunch watched some tv, and FINALLY went to sleep at 5pm...didn't wake up till the next day at 12pm. Man, was I tired.

Well, since the majority of my flights are done along the same routes, I usually stay in the back of the aircraft and talk to the flight attendants. It has happened that I have had 3 of the same flight attendants be on my flight both ways. If thats not possible, then I usually tend to watch movies. I have flown in an airplane with absolutely no TVs at all before. Its really not as boring as you may think. In the good old days I would visit the cockpit if it was possible. Unfortunately, no more of that . If its a day flight and there are few clouds, looking down at the scenery is always entertaining for me. Sometimes I take pictures, I've filmed a couple of times. I'm one of those people that don't sleep. I've only slept once, during a flight which took off approx. 4.5 hours late from Heathrow (at 12:30 AM), but that's a whole other freaky story.

Crawling down the aisles looking for loose change while everyone else sleeps. The windfall is usually just enough to buy me a beer at my destination.

Annoys the hell out of flight attendants, though....

well my trip to FRA took us 16 hours of nonstop flight from MNL and CAN/ZGGG en route to FRA?FRF/EDDF so, i had to watch the inflight movie which is Miss Congeniality 2 and a cartoon that it makes me irritating since it doesnt make sense so i switched to listening german music and ours too! what an a unbelievable thing hehe anyways all i also did is to sleep heheh most of the time since my flight is very confortable...
but in going no way but in coming back to MNL hahah very nice coz i was able to sit in a window seat.. and had a very long long long sleep

Just like to say, how the hek do you people sleep? i find doing that impossible. And if i do manage to sleep i wake up with pins and needles, the side of my head i was sleeping on is dead and i feel like ****. I usually eat, eat, eat watch tv and movies, draw, eat, annoy the person at the end of my row by getting he/her to move when the flight attendants haven't come to pick up the the trash from the food we have just eaten, and going to the toilet(i do this about every 10 minutes muhaha) Sometimes i'll just sit there silently going crazy because everyone around me is sleeping and i'm so tierd but i still can't sleep! That is probably because i drink so much coke on these flights! i swear they put stuff in it, like some sort of week drug that keeps you awake and is addictive but i guess we'll never know what that is...wow have i been blabing!

If I'm working the trip, well, I work the trip.

As a pax i read, read and read some more. And I don't know what I'd do without my iPod. It keeps me company on the long paxes, while I run and workout and when I'm bored sitting in a hotel room. I have a set of travel speakers that I use in the room so I don't have to wear the headset.

Do you or any other pilots ever get, well kind of bored on the longer flights? Or is there always something to do regarding aircraft systems? Also is there any difference in boredom levels when you fly cargo long haul?

well.. it seem you just don't know how smooth the engine was on its full power for 16 hours of the Lufthansa German Airlines' A346 aircraft... and err..well i do get to the toilet after 5 to 10 hours of flight

Oh first class all the way . Lol joking. Nah just economy *shudder* Not so bad with air transat (who we end up flying with as BA is usually too expensive) because there are only 12 or so club class seats in the entire A330 so the whole plane is pretty nice. No PTVs tho...
