I've seen that effect before when the camera lense is pointed directly at a bright light. Don't know the cause of it, though...

Ok well what you see there is the sun (the black dot). The reason it looks like that is because the cameras CCD can't register it. Just a word of warning never point your camera directly at the sun. This can cause serious damage and make your shots pants. It makes them pants because your cameras CCD can't handle the brightness. Oh you can look directly at the sun.... if you use your ND filter.

Few im out of breath hope that was some help.

Ps to big to be a planet. If it was that close we would of seen it before

I agree with flight boffin, That strange dot in the middle is the real sun. The light around is the effect of the sun in the atmosphere, such the sun appear bigger by sunrise or sunset.

Very good video Richard, but don't do that anymore . Think on the 3 eyes : yours and the camera B)

Yep that´s the good old Sun!!
Panomania never, and i mean never, look directly to the Sun or with binoculars or even with your beloved video camera you may be blind and damege the video equipment.

And what kind of camera were you taking this video?
panomania
just a cheap little digital one i bought when i was on holiday

That explains it all. That camera won't have a very good CCD (charles couple device) You want a good one like the DCR-2000 from sony. Costs around £2500 which is not bad.
