I have a question that I do not believe has been asked yet...what is the FAA's viewpoint on workout suppliments such as creatine and preworkout drinks such as Jack3d, NOExplode that is found in stores such as GNC? Has anyone here ever had problems with any workout suppliments on the market? I have heard that creatine can cause kidney stones and high blood pressure, mood swings, and a few other less serious side effects, but I have been doing a good job monitoring myself as far as that goes and am getting HUGE which I obviously hoped for...but I also just bought Jack3d and it says there is somethign in it that is the same ingredient used for ADHD patients so that you can keep your focus when you lift..which really makes me wonder if any of this is illegal. I want to get stronger and body build but am neverous that it could jeopordize my future as a pilot in the long run or even as soon as my next medical check in a few months. I called my flight surgeon and he told me that he checked into it and the FAA had no answer for me..I was on my own to make the decision to take it because little research has been done. I feel like if I take it I am an idiot until I get answers. Any experiences??

PS. A lot of suppliments at health stores such as GNC have been banned from NCAA sports which makes me question whether the FAA disapproves also.

Are you an AOPA member? If so, the AOPA forum has a very popular "Medical Issues" sub-forum that sees lots of participation by quite a few AMEs who keep well up to date on these types of subjects. If you're not a member, I'd highly recommend signing up, as long as you don't mind throwing lots of mail in the garbage for all the insurance or legal services offerings. I think it costs $39.00 per year and comes with the monthly AOPA Pilot magazine. The magazine itself is worth the price in my opinion. Oh yeah, and you get that little window sticker for your vehicle! icon_cool.gif

Best of luck, and welcome!
