Hey folks. I have had absolutely NO luck winning a scholarship. I have applied to countless and wrote a few essays and did not make the cut. I have decided to quit applying to regular scholarships and will just apply to aviation scholarships. Being a small community and certain breed of people who are involved in the aviation field I am sure that the scholarship process is more personal. Any ideas where i can find some good aviation scholarships?

Thanks,
David

Did your family experience any hardship from hurricane Katrina? Weren't you still there in 05? There might be some grant program for folks who endured forced re-location.

I'm shooting in the dark here, but that might be an angle you could examine. HOWEVER, it's always far more satisfactory when it's earned by your own merits in an apples-to apples competition. This may be where some of us can help you. Is the opportunity still available to you to earn a scholarship through regular channels? If so, just PM the regulars here who do this stuff for a living and we'll do our level best to advise you along the way. Not that I'm volunteering to write your essays for you, but I'll be more than happy to proof-read and edit your submission. Can't hurt...

Best of luck David!

If I ever get rich - its gonna be Scholarship City for up and coming pilots. One psychometric test and about a dozen interviews and you are in.

Thank you for your advice. You always take time to reply to my posts and I want to thank you directly. As of Katrina, we did relocate to my father's town in Ohio. But there doesnt seem to be much aid/grant for that anymore, which is okay As far as essays and such, I will deffinately post it on, when I get an opportunity to write it on a upcoming scholarship. Thanks again.

Unfortunately I have no clue about scholarships in the states. But just as an idea... Did you ever think about studying abroad? Just as an example: Education in germany is almost for free compared to the US. Just a little math example: costs for rent and living ~ 800,00€/month + max. university fee ~400€/6months = 10.400€/year. At a regular study time of four years that would sum up to 41.600€ (all inclusive) . A lot of collegues at my university came from abroad. One of them was a friend of mine coming from Iran. He came to germany one year before the semester started to learn german and studied aeronautical techniques with us at the Univeryity of Applied Sciences. Of course that is quite a step but if you really want to achieve something it might be a possibility and besides that its a great opportunity and experience.
Now if all you want to do in the future is fly a plane why not ask companies such as Lufthansa, SwissAir or whatever else is around for a job interview? Or better said a couple of interviews, tests and so on in order to train and later on hire you. They actually borough you the money for training and give you the opportunity to pay it back when hired.

Just some thoughts...

Go to allATPs.com

Then go to the banks when you have enrolled at all ATPs.com

Then INSIST!!!!!! you get loan - after all it is your money and your Dad`s money that is paying the bank`s wages.
