I was just wondering how the landing zone lights and centerline lights don break when an aricraft passes over. What are they made of?

I've always wondered myself. They might be implanted into the ground i don't

Recessed lights are located on the runway's centerline at most large airports. For most pilots, it is initially a bit unnerving to land on these. They are, however, safely situated under protective covers.

When I flew during the day I never really noticed lol. I don't think the other lighting like is recessed though.

I found a spec sheet with an image of one here:

Just the same way thats Cats eyes on the road don't break. They are protected by a plastic cover which is on both sides of the light. This is higher than actual light which means when a wheel runs over it the light is completely untouched. Also when a wheel runs over it light is pushed down. This acts as a form of suspension.

They are built into the ground. If you have ever traveled on a highway and noticed between the lanes there are small deflectors thats what the runway lights are like maybe a little bigger with a built in light.
