hey i was just wondering, is there any way to make a fsx aircraft faster, i know its somthing with the cfg file and i downloaded a cfg editor, when i do change the max speed on it nothing happens to the aicraft speed itself it still goes to the other max speed.

Before attempting this, back up the old CFG first; that way if you make a mistake it can be restored to its former working state!

[TurbineEngineData]
fuel_flow_gain=0.0018
inlet_area=20.01
rated_N2_rpm=7600.000
static_thrust=22165.000

Scroll down to that entry in the aircraft CFG folder and in last line of the above example you have the option to raise the value to however you'd like it; i.e. static_thrust=41211.000.
Continental Freak
when i do that it still goes to the old maximum speed? is there anything else i need to do?
klm_city_hopper
There's something your still obviously doing wrong; does it feel/look faster?
Continental Freak
no not really the things i changed was static trust and the max speed

PS how high does the static trust have to go in order to achally to get a lot more speed say like 50 knots

50 more knots on a C172 or an F16? Are you sure you're editing the CFG for the correct aircraft/variant?
Continental Freak
no not a c172 or a f16 just like a 737 or somthin like that so i can get through my long flights just a tad faster. yes i'm positive, i use my cfg editor then press upload cfg file and find teh aircrafts cfg file
klm_city_hopper
LOL.

Seems like your defying the point of the whole game a little. Its like having a racing game to race against other players.. but modifying the game to make you go faster and therefore win; its a bit pointless.

Are you aware of increasing the simulation rate in the game? This will basically speed-up the simulation clock BUT not increase the actual speed of the aircraft.

QUOTE
To change the simulation rate:

* On the Options menu, point to Simulation Rate, and then choose a simulation rate.

If you choose a simulation rate other than Normal, Flight Simulator will display a message in the upper-right corner of the screen indicating your simulation rate. The Autopilot will not
work for simulation rates more than 16×.

Continental Freak
ooooo, no i'm just doing this on single player when i need to go a little faster cuz i have a sharp deadline
klm_city_hopper
I know you are, I was just using it as an example. Have you tried changing the simulation rate?
Continental Freak
I will tomorrow because my computer is running somthing else and if I run fsx with it normally both of them will crash.

Sure you aren't just running Windows? It usually crashes with that and one other window open. icon_mrgreen.gif
Continental Freak
It worked, except when i tried going back to normal speed it has to load again
klm_city_hopper
It loads again because it needs to reinstate the detail for the area you've come into.. usually its a gradual process when flying normally; but because you've basically plonked yourself in there, the simulator needs to 'update' itself if you like!
Continental Freak
oh thats why, thanks
