Hey everyone i am in the process of scheduling an aerobatic intro flight in a 150 aerobat. does anyone have any experiance with aerobatics? how it feels? does it make you sick? is it cool? that type of thing.

Thanks-Steve

and y are u doing this in a 152, you cant do crap in a 152 good luck though

Hawker
You can do plenty in the 152 Areobate. I recieved my first aerobatics lesson in the 152 Aero. Great little trainer. Just look at the horizon the whole time! Don;t look inside!
flyguy
Thanks guys, good advise hawker. the insturtor said you can do basic aerobatics, but no inverted flight.
Hawker, how did your training go, did you like it?
Hawker
Loved it. I love doing aerobatics in the Citabra, now thats fun!!!!
flyguy
so you didnt feel sick or anything afterwords?
Hawker
Not really, I am not the type to get queezy!

Hey everyone i am in the process of scheduling an aerobatic intro flight in a 150 aerobat.

Hi Steve.Have you flown in single engine aircraft (C152 etc.)before? If the smallest plane you've flown with is a B737 as a passenger I don't think you'll enjoy it too much.If you've flown though, there are a few things you can do to prepare. Think about what you eat 3 hours before (not too greasy or heavy; not too liquidy etc..).Don't go totally empty either!Try to avoid sodas and have water instead during that time.Don't wear too warm clothing and ventilate well during the flight.Take your time discusing each and every maneuver beforehand on the ground AND in the air before executing. You can be the best Top Gun Pilot but if your flying buddy next or behind you throws the plane around unannounced for a while ,it's just a atter of time before you start burping. And finally as Hawker said, look outside at the horizon and follow it conciously at all times.Tell your instructor that you need a break if you need one.(Don't wait until it's too late) And finally it's the responsability of a good pilot to be prepared for those "unlikely events".......
Take a bag with you. In any case you'll get used to it more and more and once you get to the point where you don't feel sick, you can do magic!!!

If you like thrill rides or rollercoasters, this will be right up your alley. I did some aerobatics in a Citabria and although I thoroughly enjoyed the ride, I have never had a worse migrane when I got home.

My advice to you is try not to push yourself too far ive come so close to planting myself into the ground due to black outs... ive eased up since then with all my "fun stuff"
MoOnEy_m-20C
myself gets sick just dont look at the panel that might cause motion sickness usually ur first flight you will do basic monuvers like steep turns and probbly a spin....nothin to worry about....Have Fun ;)
velocityflier16
flyguy, im sorry for wat i said earlier i thought you were thinking about doing like loops and hammerheads, knife edge, etc. but anyways, i fly a c152 all the time. they are good for spinning! speaking of that, i have a video on here of me spinning a 152! enjoy your flight and i apologize again!

thsnks for all of the advise and comments, yes i have flown in several small planes i am an active student pilot, velocityflier16, dont worry about it, but i did hear the 152 handles just like the 172 i alwaya fly. well thinks again everyone.

I've logged about 10 hours in the Citabria doign aerobatics. Fun ride, but like others have said, watch what you eat and drink before the flight. Make sure that you get a briefing form the pilot on how to operate the parachutes that you should be wearing and also on how to get out of the plane should an emergency occur. Other than that, sit back, have fun and enjoy the view. Just make sure that you have your seatbelt VERY tight. Try to get some video to post as well if you have the time.

I can't wait to get aerobatics lessons, but currently I'm focused on my Private Pilot's License.

if you want an idea of what your gonna feel just go on a theme park ride that rotates and changes altittude rather quickly. if you get sick on the ride expect to get sick in the plane. its usually worse if the plane has a high roll rate.

Any of you ever get into a "whip stall"? That's when you mess up a hammerhead, etc. and let the airspeed bleed off too much in an underpowered aircraft. Was flooring the rudder to kick over and nothing happened. The aircraft just nosed over from vertical and my keys and change nearly came out of my pockets. Next I'm staring at a sugar cane field! Did it in the Citabria. One time too many!

Was fun, but caught me off guard.
flyguy
I have done a stall like that, but it was on purpose. they are so much fun.-steve

RedBull If you like aerobatics, check this site. It's amazing!!!

There is a huge range of Arobatic Flying. Planes range from the C-150 Aerobat to the Sukhoi 31. The type of flying between the extremes is night and day. Actually, doing acro in a 150 is MUCH harder than doing it in an Extra 300L.

But, finish 10 minutes of hard unlimited acro pushing and pulling up to 10 positive AND negative G's, and you will feel like you have been beaten up. You can actually severely injure yourself doing negative stuff if you are not accustomed to it.

If you can, get a ride in at least a Decathilon with a symetrical airfoil, you need to be able to hold inverted. At best, the first acro ride should be in a Pitts S2 Series. Anything over that is overkill.

My goodness....good luck with that :D

Here is a link to the best aerobatic pilot in the world. This opinion is pretty much undisputed in the aerobatic community. This is the guy that flew inverted under the bridge in Lithuania.

Jurgis Kairys

Click on the videos section and especially watch hover maneuvers. This guy is the best of the best. The aircraft is a special SU-31 with a 450hp Vendenyev M-14PF engine.

but no inverted flight.

who said you cant go inverted. ive been inverted in a 152A, without engine power obviously cos they dont have feul pumps

In a 152, that's what you have. I used to play around with zero/negative G (only mildly) and the engine always choked due to the carb. Fun isn't it! B)
