Labtec makes good headphone/microphone combos. Sometimes you have to go to multimedia in the control panel and raise the gain on the mic and make sure it shows up. . Dbl click the volume control speaker in the task bar brings up a mixer where it can be done too.

Do what Glenn said, Calibrate it. It's probably the problem, and it'll save your Trip to Asda, as us Brits have it here. icon_wink.gif

There can be some issues depending on your computer's sound card too. Some share the usual 3 plugs for different uses like 5.1 outputs, so you actually need to define someplace in the control panel that you want the plug to be a mic input.
On my PC I have the usual 3 plugs, but I can use one either as mic input, line input, or center/subwoofer output. If not set to the right mode I won't get anything if I plug my mic in.

I had the same trouble with my computer. I could hear sound but wasn't able to say anything.

Our computer is weird, it does the stupidest things for no reason.

Anyway, the computer got some horrible virus so we took it down to a shop to get it fixed, we also got more RAM and a good clean out (lots of dust and crap). After that, my headphones worked and most of my flight sim addons.
God knows why the headphones started to work??? I didn't think RAM would help. Maybe the dust was causing something to short out.

So, if your computer is like mine, it might just need an upgrade. The headphones might not be the problem.

I have a really simple mic. It's a 35 dollar Logitec headset/mic, that plugs in with USB. Very easy. And works like a charm. I got it at Circuit City.

I have a poundland mic that nobody can hear me very well on icon_sad.gif

Can anyone provide any info on these USB mics and headsets? Do they work pretty much independantly of your sound card, because I fear mine is somewhat lacking in the features dept. Nothing goes very loud (mic input) and I cant record from the sound output (i.e. select recording source as the wave output). A USB set may be my best bet...

That looks awesome, though a bit too expensive for a set of (albeit good) headphones.

Hi Iberworld,

I have read through all of the blurb to do wih his headset. Is it really as easy as just plug it in and start talking, or do you have to do anything to your settings on you computer or FSX to get the chat function working? I am sorry if this seems like a biff's question, but when it comes to computers that is what i am!

Regards
