Well, Ive finally caved in and made my first aircraft repaint for the Cessna 150 (available here http://drk.free.fr/tutoriels/creation/c150_en.php ) in the colours of the aircraft I first soloed in. Its not perfect, but not too shabby I dont think.

Heres a photobucket album with some pics of the real and FS aircraft, for comparison. Comments welcome. Link

Also, I have put the plane into a movie! My first flight sim movie. I had a bit of trouble making it- a bad workman blames his tools but I did only have MS movie maker.... I wanted to time camera 'cuts' to the song, but that was made difficult because I had to watch it the whole way through each time, or else the song wouldnt play the right bit. I had more trouble when it came to save the file, as I had over 4.5Gb video data from fraps for a 2 minute movie, and my 2Gb RAM probably wasnt enough, so I had to export the movie in 3 parts, then attach all these, and put the song over the top, at the end. That worked, but, especially when converted to youtube format, some of the quality and timings are a little off. Still, I'm quite proud of it as my first movie. The song playing in the background is 'Dreaming of you' by the Coral. Let me know what you think:

Not bad at all. icon_smile.gif It wasn't jumpy, the scenes flowed- not bad for a first attempt! A few tips:
  • Hit alt when recording; it'll remove that tool bar.
  • Try Downloading Sony Vegas from their site, it's free for a month, and you can give it a good try-out if you so wish.

Good Job!

I've tried alt, but that bar at the top wont go away. It wont be there until I press alt to change settings etc, but after that, it stays there.

And I assume Sony Vegas is a video editing program- thanks for the info. I thought the only decent one was Adobe... I may give that Sony one a try.

Unfortunately, I've just gone and deleted all the vids I took yesterday- I decided I didnt want over 4 gig of FS stuff on my comp, when it was just a few mins of video.

Thanks

First of all, to hide that menu bar you must 'Left click' and select 'Hide menu bar' If your running FSX you may need to press the button twice because with mine its doesnt work first time.

Second of all, that videos is great, and i must get the vfr x gen scenery because it looks awesome.

Thrid of all, what program do you use to repaint the aircraft?

Thanks.

I just used DXTBmp and iphotoplus. There are better photo-editing packages out there- of course, adobe photoshop is probably the best.
And yeah, the video does not do the scenery justice at all.

great video, no slow spots, loved the look at the gauges, and great music. just perfect, if you ask me.
