aviation dude
Ive noticed that sometimes on vatsim some transmissions sound very real. As if they were really in the plane simulating a real VHF transmission. How do they get there transmissions to sound like that? Is it some kind of software?
Thanks
boeingsrbetter
good question, sir. i've noticed that as well, maybe they use a certain server or software for it.

The quality of sound is dependant on several things.

1. The quality of your microphone.
2. The quality of your soundcard.
3. The type of internet connection.

Go buy yourself a GOOD PC microphone and a decent soundcard with at least 96Kb sampling, 192 Kb would be better.

If you have DSL then the mic and soundcard should solve the problem. If you use dial up, get DSL or cable.

Oh yeah, don't keep posting this request over and over.

I think he wants the opposite (i.e so that it sounds like actual radio transmissions, not good quality PC-like calls)...

Your in luck- Squawk box (Vatsim's main pilot client) includes (in their words) VHF simulation. It is in the settings somewhere, as far as i can recall it is a simple on/off check box. How it works? I got a dollar saying magic but thats just me...

I would of thought it would of been in teamspeak.

Vatsim doesn't use the traditional stand alone 'team speak' application. Thanks to the wizard behind squawk box it is all integrated. I have no doubt it is photocopied technology but it is not technically team speak. Vatsim traditionally used 'roger wilco' as a seperate application for voice. However, since version 2 or something voice has been integrated with the squawk box module. I dunno how it works, but I know how to use it...I guess if you were that intrigued to know, your best bet is to head over to the squawk box page and shoot the designer an email.

SHOOT THE DESIGNER ?!?!?!

Oh, e-mail.
Nevermind.........

Did anyone get it to work?

I just got off flying from VATSIM and a guy had that 'real cockpit' sound effect in his ATR-72, it sounds amazing icon_eek.gif ! (Callsign was EHM3478 if anyone else picked him up)

Milehigh's right. As some of you may/may not know, i am a VERY CONSTANT vatsim member. On your SB modell, there's a button on the "voice" settings (i think) that says "simulate VHF transmission". Simply check/ it and you'll get more realistic transmissions. It's pretty helpful, i only use it sometimes though. icon_smile.gif

it doesn't work? then maybe it's just a crappy mic you're usin' that IS odd.

Did you check site http://ivao.aero? In IVAO is almost always much more pilots and ATC than in VATSIM.. And ServInfo don't show anymore IVAO's stats.
