Okay I wen't to the flight lesson traiining and i did everything so far, but in the private pilot section, i do not understand the VOR part. I seriously do not get the whole VOR thing. Can somebody please shed some light on this?

I could sit here and try and recite my knowledge of VORs, but rather than risk getting it wrong, and also to save some time, heres the Wikipedia definition http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VHF_omnidirectional_range It also shows how to use one.

Now, are you OK with all that, but dont know how to do it in flightsim, or does the whole concept confuse you (dont mean to sound condescending- I didnt understand them very well for a while).

Also, do you want to track a particular radial to/from the VOR, or do you want to fly to the VOR on whatever radial is appropriate?

Hope this helps

In very rough, layman's terms; a VOR is just a beacon that emits signals over the 360 degrees that surrounds itself. A pilot simply selects one of these signals through the OBS and flies that bearing to the VOR.
For example, a pilot might tune VOR X and select heading 90 degrees to that VOR. He would fly this bearing (bearing is 270* as he's flying inbound) towards the VOR. When the aircraft passes over the VOR, he is now on a from course, heading 90* and bearing 90* as he is now outbound.
It is very confusing at first, and also took me a good while to understand - Rod isn't a great instructor, everytime I ask him to elaborate he just repeats himself... Having a look at charts will really help you understand. You'll see the compass rose associated with that particular VOR and no doubt all will become clear in no time at all!

vors were very complicated for me to learn. My advise go to google and just type how to use a vor. the explanation is rather long. I finally got it down there very easy once you get it good. Ive experianced flying with the vor in the realworld at my flight lessons, sim does a pretty good job of keeping it about the same. Once you can work a vor you can shoot ILS aprroaches with no problem
Good Luck.
