You can buy the academic version pretty cheap. Fully functional. I bought VB6 for about $80.00 instead of $600.00 when my brother was enrolled at the local university.

I subscribe to Microsoft Action Pack and get the stuff almost free. Granted, not the MSDN package.

I'm talking about the Visual Studio 2005 .net. You could download the express version for free, or get a CD of express or enterprise for about $9 S&H. Note: Beta version. I am using it and there are no noticeable bugs.
