The Airbuser
Hi, all!

As most of us knows, the last two characters after the version number on Boeing Aircraft is the customer code, but I've seen some aircraft that are brand new and made to different airlines, yet they carry the Y0 denomination, so does this have a different meaning for Boeing?

"Y0" is the code for Guiness Peat, an aircraft leasing company. All the planes with that customer code, no matter what airline, belong to Guiness Peat.

You are almost right. The code never changes, no matter who owns it. If Guiness Peat sells the airplane to another owner (let's say American Airlines for example) it will stay a Y0. If you look at FedEx's fleet you will see they have 727-232s (Delta), -233s (Air Canada), -2S2Fs (FedEx) and so on.

I wonder why this specification is mentioned in airliners.net and also jetphotos.net and not in Fl350.com videos , and are all those spotters very clever or is there some experts? It must be a huge research.

It must be a huge research.

It just takes one guy to follow what's going on and enter it the first time. Then, the ones who come later just need to do a search with the reg and they'll find the correct code icon_wink.gif
But it's true some are completely crazy about every single detail of each plane they take a photo of...

They sure must be more picky about details than wanting simplicity icon_wink.gif
