Hi guys, quick question about coast guard, just thinking to build flying time there, currently I have commercial multi now with 300 hours TT, and 130 MEL. At this point thinking on joining the coast guard. Next week I'll stop by the recruiting office, but just wondering in your advice...

Ahh now if I had to guess, I'd say you just stepped out of the theater. "The Guardian" was good eh?

As far as I know, it is near impossible to get a flying job with the coast guard as a new recruit. It may be easier if you are a pilot with another armed force branch, but not knowing any facts on the matter I'll leave it at that. I would be interested in hearing the results of your recruiter visit though.

Except in CAP you don't get paid, any job security, benefits.. Oh and 99% of the flying is single engine piston..
