That looks a good card, but see if your motherboard supports AGP or PCIE/PCIX. The PCIE/X are the newer interfaces, and I think are better, although AGP is good, and is what that card uses. Also, what are the specs of your computer. You can have the best, fastest graphics card in the world but it will make no difference if your computer isnt up to it. I upgraded my 16Mb card to a 128Mb card, and althought the graphics were a bit sharper (the 16Mb card was just plain old) I dont think my frame rate increased by much at all. You need to find what the bottleneck of your computer is. If you have a P4 2.8GHz+, 1Gb RAM+ etc, then upgrade the card. But if you have a 800MHz Processor, 256MB RAM then theres no point because the rest of the computer wont be able to make the best use of the card.
Also, say you do get a huge framerate increase, and your graphics are 5x better. Do you want to be sitting there on your sparkly new flight sim world, controlling your plane with your keyboard because you sold your flight yoke?
It depends on your system specs and what your flight simming priorities are whether or not that would be a good buy

QUOTE(iambenwyatt @ May 21 2006, 05:57 PM) That is a very high spec GFX card!!!! However, I wouldn't sell a CH Yoke to get it. Maybe just sell an X45 then save for a while. After all FSX doesn't come out till the autumn! lol......I don't really like having a Yoke w/ out rudder pedals! anyways I like the X45 better...... And, For my computer specs. Dell Optiplex Gx260 Pent. IV Proc. Running at 2.00Ghz. 512mb DDRSDRAM Running at 433Mghz. 128 nVidia FX5200 GeForce2 -Dave

Me Personally No. I do not like ATI Cards some of their newer products cant even keep up with NVidias older products. I have told myself from now on i will only buy NVidia. -Dave Also KC135 heres some things you need to look for before buying a new card. find out wether youre computer has a PCI,PCI Express or AGP Slot. Try boosting up youre ram also that will help with performance and alot of other things but before buying a card check it out that way you dont buy the wrong card and put it in and mess youres system up. Its easy to find out just look up youre computer and look for youre slots i think youre computer is PCI and PCI Express. The reason i think that is because i have the 5500FX and its PCI which means we're pretty much SOL and wont have the system at the moment that will run anything worth playing. Regards Jordan

Regards Jordan Thanks, -Yes................But!, I see better FPS on flight sims with ATI 256mb-512mb cards, and I do not have PCI express, Only AGP 4x/8x, Which my PC can handle it....... Ram is fine...could of course always use an upgrade....... And Sir.....lol as you said> " we're pretty much SOL and wont have the system at the moment that will run anything worth playing" If you feel like that........or if its somewhat a figure of speech, I am sorry for you... because.......I am fine with my current computer specs...........just need to upgrade the very old, but excellent out-dated videocard......... Thanks! -Dave

you see better FPS on sims with 256-512Mb ATI Cards? Well, have you ever thought about the other specs of the computer? If they were using Pentiums with more than 3.2GHz, then yes, FPS would be alot better, but only a part of that would be down to the graphics card.
I think, if there is any difference at all, it wont be that high. I would personally say that a 256Mb card is more than enough for any PC unless it is brand new and going to be used for high end, demanding games, which FS is not, currently.
That said, you shouldnt do any harm to your system by giving it a too good a graphics card, and it will mean you'd get the best performance out of a graphics card possible for your PC, but you may find its the same performance as you've get from an NVidia GeForce 256Mb card.

Well, I am not here to argue, I used a 256mb Nvidia in my pc, and a 256 Ati Radeon card and saw more difference in fps w/ the ati, but, I'd like to get a card that I do not need to upgrade for a long time....Anyways... I agree with what you are saying to an extent... and Thank you for your opinions. + thanks all -Dave
