QUOTE(maxitaxi) I am in the 7th grade Toronto Ontario, Canada... I won FREE Jetsgo tickets in march 2004... I used them in August 2004. I wanted to be a pilot ever scince. I have only been on jetsgo... 1 time to Vancouver(MD83) 1 time back(MD83). I need to know what to do. Email me at no1nosemax@hotmail.com and also send it to no1nosemax2001@yahoo.ca please... Thanx!
P.S. I am male!
The best way to be a pilot [is] by going to the Air Force. They pay you[r] course and when you['re] done you quit and become a candidate to a small village (you are dispensed), then you can go to com[m]ercial airlines.

QUOTE(boeing_joe) I'm 13, and I can tell by reading that it was written by someone at least under 11 years old. It was probably edited by the mag, the grammar at least. I know for a fact how difficult it is to get your licences, getting your hours up and the stress of it all. My Dad flew C182s, so I learnt this from him.
For 13, he has a lot of humor

QUOTE(SF3aviatrix @ Jul 22 2005, 05:33 AM) Yep, I could not agree more. If you ain't serious about my profession then don't pursue it. I do not want to share my sky with you. Hello SF! I cant read what i v read and not reply. I am sorry to tell you that you r not sharing "YOUR" sky. Because if u had created "your" sky, you would not have to take a plane to cross it! Even, you would not need to cross it anyways. I think anyone who d like to be a pilot has certainly a place in it. Cheers MK747

Well i guess this is the place to share my story, after all i too am a young gunnabe pilot . I am currently 16, with about 18TT. I was hoping for my solo on my 16th b'day which was a week ago. However CASA in all there glory take years to proscess an application, so as soon as i get that pass saying SPL then i am heading to the airport. My short term priority with flying is to gain my PPL. I am not even going to try and go any further untill i am out of school/uni etc. Even in what we call junior school here in aus it is quite challenging to keep the marks good and work your butt off to fund an expensive hobby. I should have my PPL around this time next year, and form there i will just stay current flying with mates until i find the right time to push on and get my CPL, MEIICR etc. Study wise, as i said my aim is to get all the study done, and put 120% and acheive the best i can. I have seen my markls drops slowely this year, not because i can't handle the work but because i am usually tired from late working nights. I mean i work a good 40-50 hours a week trying to save for my CPL. Thats somehting i just can't keep up To all the 13, 14 year ols in the forum, don't ever give up. I don't mean to sound like an old experienced pilot here, but aviation depends on comitment. Nothing is going to come to you.-expect to work long weeks to save cash, do the dirty work for the flight school, anythign that will help you acheive your goal. One of my mates loves flying, but sadly his career path lies elsewhere now due the cost and uncertainess of the aviation world. It is all a matter of how much you want it, don't just say "i wanna be a pilot". Say instead... "I REALLY REALLY WANNA BE A PILOT" Also another thing, posting topics like this, shows that you are not a very good researcher. There are litrally thousands of places on the net that will tell you what exactly you need to be a pilot, both commercial and private. I mean we also have several topics pinned about this exact thing. Anyway that's my story and i am sticking to it...

QUOTE(Ross_AirCanada @ Oct 7 2006, 08:50 PM) im already a pilot, im 15 / k whoever wants to be when ur like 12 yrs old or something, you cant, you can train but its a waste of money to wait to your 14 to solo (2 yrs of dual, you will complete course material and then just kill time till u can solo) and then 16 for recreational permit, theres 2 more years. your going to fly alot more than you would if you started when you were 14, already of age to solo 14 to solo? That's crazy!! I don't feel like people my age are mature enough to deal with emergencies.. Putting a 14 year old in charge of an airplane is borderline outrageous!

Just because you have the technical and physical skill to do it, doesn't mean you deserve a license. The most important part of driving/piloting any vehicle is judgement, and it takes both age and experience to do gain that. I'm not a pilot myself, but I suspect licensed flyers would agree with me.

I am sorry about not being able to provide links or sources, but according to my yr 10 science teacher, a human does not develop 'multi-tasking' skills until the late stages of development. As you know, this vary s between sex but usually around the 18-22 mark according to my teacher. I am not doubting your proficiency as a pilot ( i myself am only 16), i am just saying that although during your younger years you do 'soak up' more things, your body is limited to how much of this info can be processed at once. For the computer gurus here, it is like knowing how to play the most sophisticated hardest game on the planet on an outdated computer. It just doesn't work....
During an emergency a pilot in command is required to process several tasks at the same time with no delay. As i said, according to my teacher the 'multi-tasking' ability is limited to your stage of development. In the real world, where you just lost your engine 1,000ft above the ground we will see what happens.....
Back on topic, my only recommendation is do not start training early. I can almost assume this would have been said during the last 3 pages of posts, but to be honest i don't have the time to look. The one thing i would have liked to of done is to of started flying after i had my degree. Unfortunately the flying bug took hold after my TIF and now if i stop and wait till later chances are i will loose all the knowledge i have worked for over the last year...In all, it is your decision, but again, i would not recommend you start until you are at least independent in regards to your income, your housing, and your decisions....

Im 16 and am flying. And my flight instructor says i do etter then most adults to. Im a basketball player so i have fast reflexes and good video game skills . But there are instances where i would like to be older so that my ego wouldnt take over. For instance, Im coming in way to fast and high on the landing, and my instructor says its your call. I would probably try to squeeze it out seeing i probably could in a cessna 172. But a real professional with better judgment probable would do a loop around and land. Now i dont have the balls to do that knowing that guys in the tower and people at the airport are watching.
