Ahh, I remember seeing you around here last time! Guess what, almost everyone here is either a pilot or wants to become one! I am now 15 and I want to be a pilot too! Alcooliques11.gif

Aircadet, your post has just inspired my to do a poll on people age. I'm curious just to see how many people of all age groups we have.

Go to a flying club and ask. The first person who tells you not to bother or who shakes their head in apparent despair - avoid like the plague.

One who tells you without emotion, "you need to do this and then you need to do that, and that, and that etc., probably knows what they are on about.

Try to chat with fellow students, if they don`t wanna chat, then find another one.

Be interested in how people got into flying and what their aspirations are, you will then gleen some good ideas.

Becoming a pilot, is, in itself, a culture, never before experienced by mankind.

WHY I WANT TO BE A PILOT

When I grow up I want to be a pilot because it's a fun job and easy to do. That's why there are so many pilots flying around these days.

Pilots don't need much school. They just have to learn to read numbers so they can read their instruments.

I guess they should be able to read a road map, too.

Pilots should be brave to they won't get scared it it's foggy and they can't see, or if a wing or motor falls off.

Pilots have to have good eyes to see through the clouds, and they can't be afraid of thunder or lightning because they are much closer to them than we are.

The salary pilots make is another thing I like. They make more money than they know what to do with. This is because most people think that flying a plane is dangerous, except pilots don't because they know how easy it is.

I hope I don't get airsick because I get carsick and if I get airsick, I couldn't be a pilot and then I would have to go to work.

i heard being a pilot is not easy at all, it's supposed to be really hard.

To me it's not a matter of easy or hard.. Flying is challenging and sometimes it's more challenging than other times, however the difficulty of the challenge to the pilot depends on skill. That's just the way I look at it.

You do? That's grand, the FAA even wrote a special chapter under 14CFR61 just for you, it is called "voluntary resignation of certificates".

Put your ticket (or tickets, if you went that far) in an envelope, mail in to the Monroney center in Oklahoma, and then you can start your new life of car insurance salesman right away. No questions asked!!!
It is a free service, and from what I heard they have no airmen complaints on the processing of the said certificates into the shredding machine.

Ya know, there are a handful of captains that I have flown with that are so miserable it's pathetic. Yet they cannot quit and go any place else and make the same kind of money with no skills other than being a pilot. They have made their bed, they are going to lie in it...at least until 60.
