Dudes Hi !

Not cookie time - just need help here.

1/.Are there online Flight Planning Forms the go direct to ATC (or do you just fill `em in and print them out and file them as normal??? Thanks dudes. (and Dudessesses)

2/. In view of the 5 Freedoms of the Air (well there are more, but...) Do we still have to file for an OverFly permit if going from A to B over a load of countries. If so, how..? At thwe countries embassies?

3/. Re: Online Flight Planning NAV (not ATC) is there a specific online flight planning, like in ADDS for outside the USA (as I am here in dear old England?

At duats.com, you can file direct to FSS just by submitting a form online.

I'm not sure about your other questions though.

Jetplan.com, the Jeppesen web-based software for airlines, helps you with all of those points you just mentioned. The overfly permits, sents the FPL to respective ATC dependencies, and so on...

Thanks Pitdown Man. I actually caught this one, earlier on in the week, after surfing the net. I got in contact with these dudes. They said it was actually for free - probably because it is NATS and NATS is UK (National Air Traffic Services - as you know) and I am in the UK.

JUST FOR INTEREST - I`ve found on my (surfing) travels that ARINC do a really good service with almost instantaneous online flight planning using the internet (as opposed to havnig yer own software) and if you have aircraft that can do this - the entire flight plan shububle gets uplinked (by good old Datalink) to the aircraft and straight into the FMS and completely ACARS etc. - nice !
Included in the ARINC package is a cars and hotels - thing, I forget the name. It gives all the nearest Car services and Hotels nearest to the FBO anywhere in the world. That package goes for $16,000 per Annum, or half that amount if you do not include the Datalink/Acars bit.

Thanks AName, I`ll check Duats.com, I reckon the basics of Overfly permits is a case of going to the relevant Embassies and applying there - and then living in the hope that they forwarded the permit onto the relevant ATC of their country.
I read somwhere that a rather large nation - mentioning no names but it begins with R and ends in A and they all speak Russian there - I recently read somewhere that they fly all over the place without bothering about permits. I wonder, if Permits are just an excuse for Permit getters to make money out of people requiring permits especially in view of the Freedoms of the Air. I must try it - flying over North Korea without a permit.

Thanks Airbusser. I have yet to get to Jetplan and JetView and all the other stuff they do for international trip planning. I am hoping to go down to Crawley to get a demo and ask `em how much they charge. Interesting if they do the permit stuff too.

In pretty much every country in Africa you need a clearance for both overflight and landing. Those have to be requested by directly contacting the aviation authority of said countries. Count 1 week for them to process your request...
Normally they wouldn't make you pay for it. However, if you do arrive there without one they might take full advantage of that excuse to get money from you.

Opps, missed the part that you're in the UK. Unfortunately, duats.com is only available to people within the U.S. aviation community, but since it files with the FAA, it wouldn't help you much over there anyways lol
