I just did a search for "Vatsim" and found five pages in the "Flight Sim" forum alone. A lot deal with how to connect, procedures, etc.

Poor WimbiDira....he'll never know the true meaning of "busy". icon_thumright.gif Lol, jp, he should join ZLA with me....i see wimbi dira there all the time.

OTP, i suggest controlling in your home area, get used to the ATC area there. Ie. if you live in UK, try that area or if you live in the US, select the ARTCC in which you live in in real life first. You can do a "visiting controller" status later if you change your mind. Just a suggestion, bud. Oh and i know that since the academy closed, you have to email the Air Traffic Manager (ATM) or the ARTCC/FIR you want to join. If you need anyhting else, just post....i'm not sure but i think i may have the most Vatsim-hours-per-day out of this bunch, so i can more than likely help ya out!

I too am very insterested in VATSIM, but I don't know what I need to use the program. I guess I'm just confused as to how it really works, especially how I communicate with the planes because I want to control on VATSIM. If someone could drop me a line on how it works I would appreciate it very much! icon_thumright.gif

Do we have to use the real world terminology when communicating? Or the fs atc vocabulary is fine?

Did you guys try the vatsim.net? On the left side it has links for beginner ATCs and pilots plus all the software you need to have along with manuals. Also your questions are already answered on the VATSIM formus (also on vatsim.net). So if you have a questions about a certain program just go to that section on the forums and check the faqs + a little search and you should get answers.
