Flights to Germany, France and Scotland will be affected
Low-cost airline Flybe is to close down its operations at Bristol airport later this month.
The group will cease all flights, except for its Jersey route, from the airport from 25 March.

Flybe said it had made the decision after buying British Airways' regional flights subsidiary BA Connect.

The no-frills airline said the move would affect its 193 staff at Bristol, but it hoped to keep job losses to a minimum by relocation or redeployment.

Routes to Paris, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Glasgow and Edinburgh will be affected by the decision.

Flybe said it would offer passengers booked on affected services after 25 March alternative flights from other airports.

"My team and I took a long hard look at BA Connect's loss-making operations out of Bristol and regretfully could not make a viable economic case for their retention," said Flybe chief commercial officer Mike Rutter.

"This will be the only base closure resulting from the acquisition of BA Connect."

According to Flybe, the acquisition - unveiled on Tuesday - creates "Europe's largest regional airline" which will fly nearly 10 million passengers on 152 routes.

I am flying to Bristol in August, but looks like it will be with Easyjet and not Flybe. Yet more job losses in the aviation industry.
