QUOTE(AName @ Jan 22 2007, 05:08 AM)
I just got word back from his wife. He had one and a half weeks left with the company. He would be retired from Ameristar by now...

**I have a dirty mouth** like that is only supposed to happen in the movies.

That just makes things worse..He was so devoted to his wife and children and so looking forward to his new job.. you could feel his enthusiasm. My sincere sympathies go to them ...May you rest in peace. T/P.. Gone but not forgotten. icon_sad.gif

Terry talking about the first time he soloed

Me 3...while sitting on phone books so I could see out of the plane...

Terry on how to greet a pilot

Yes, always offer to buy a pilot a beer when you meet him or her.

Terry about being a pilot

low amount of sleep, life attached to a pager, never know where you are going to go until about 5-10 minutes before departure...unless its not busy, then you sit in a hotel. you do that for about 9-10 days, go home for 5 and then do it again.

I just like to fly, no matter the weather. or time of day.

Terry about Bob Hoover

He's not dead. He lives on through me, and together we roll everything we get in.

Terry, to us, you aren't gone either. You live on through us. All of us here share one tie, which is the passion for aviation. I love to fly, we love to fly, you loved to fly. And that you did.
I didn't know you much, but I miss you already. You always sounded like a genuinely generous and modest person. Always ready to answer a question, always ready to share your knowledge, always ready to give advice. We won't see you around the forums anymore, but we'll think about you often, in the skies and on the ground. And if we meet once again, i'll be sure to offer you a beer.

We all miss you, rest in peace.

Nicolas

What a shame, it really is. I didn't know Terry all that well, but he always seemed a kind chap. RIP.

Blue skies and tailwinds, Terry. You went doing something that you truly loved doing. No man can ask for more than that. My prayers for you and my condolences to your family.

A great loss for the world, and to FL350. You will be remembered by everyone. May you rest in peace forever, Terry.

This is very sad news. Another fellow Learjet driver gone. My condolances to Terry's family.

Terry and I have chatted and PM'd back and forth about the job, the plane, life in general. We were making plans to get together in Dallas when we both were there next and fight over who gets to buy the first round of beers.

Dang it, he was just getting out of the freight business and into a good corporate job. This is like a terribly bad joke of some kind.

Terry was a very good guy who loved what he did and was very good at it. Though I had not yet met him in person I will nevertheless miss him.

Tears are streaming down my face. I am shocked, of course. I just got back from a funeral an hour ago and I came home to this news. The comforting words I heard today are enough to make me believe that Terry has passed on much to all of us and he is in a loving and safe place now and as others have pointed out, he is still with us. What matters most is that he is loved by his family and friends and has touched others outside of his realm, with me being one of them! You are still with us Tpatty!

That sucks, on the last few remaining days on that job.

Does anyone know what happened? Or is it too early in the investigation?

All I could find out at the NTSB site is they went down in mountainous terrain late at night fairly close to Guadalajara. I would glean from that they were on approach.

That right there is more than a lot of pilots can handle, I don't mean that in reference to either of them though.

I pinned this topic and renamed it to "In memory of Terry Patty". I don't want these wonderful tributes of your's to ever fade into the oblivion of old posts. He meant much more than that to so many of us. I would rather that this topic become a monument here in his honor.

Here's hoping that he's riding the best Harley in the universe right now.

This was sad news to hear on return from Holiday. A couple of chats in the room with him is the extent of any connection but I always valued his opinion and views and enjoyed his outlook on life and the industry.

I hope his wife and kids can continue to log in here and see some of the thoughts we've shared about her husband and their Dad.

RIP

What can I say? Although I only saw a few of his posts here and there.. it's still incredibly sad to see something as horrific as this.
RIP.
