Ok i have a problem. I wanted to fly from Teesside to Lanzarote. The only thing was i didn't have enough fuel to make it!! I know the 737-400 can make because i have been on that route in real life. Well i'm obviously doing something wrong so can someone tell me how to make my flight more fuel efficient??

;) Fly at 35.000ft to39.000ft to ecnomise the fuel burn. You should notice that the engines burn more fuel at takeoff and landing and while you are in the cruise the engines burn less fuel because the air is less dense higher up and the air is more dense closer to the ground thus burning more fuel. STAY UP HIGH DURING THE CRUISE!!! Hopr this answers your question. B) icon_smile.gif :D

I cannot believe that I am correcting a pilot. But. The hight you go stuff is ok, but you should step climb, dont go straight up high, as you will lose speed, and stall.

Step climb..thats the answer ;)

You are clean, right? Gear and flaps up? ;)

Just keep the climb at 250-300+ knots, keep an eye on the barber pole and you should be ok. But due to ATC, step climbing is more realistic. That's why I love FS. Do what you want, when you want... :D

Just watch out for coffin corner (the altitude where low and high stall speeds meet)! There's a little more to it than that, but those are the basics. Coffin corner will generally be different for each flight and each aircraft.

He is not stupid to go and climb to a cruising altitude straight away. If you follow ATC instructions you will be okay. What i mean't was to set your cruising altitude to 35.000ft or whatever and follow ATC.

Well, if you do step climbing, for example
ATC: climb and maintain 11,000----> soon as you get there atc will tell you the next number...
so i dont reall y see any step,,, you just climb and climb <_<

what i do is that i initially climb out of FL100 at 1800fpm so that i can overrun 250 KIAS, then i set aututhrittle to 280-290 and climb at about 600fpm. though with the 777, you really need to step it especially when you are at full load. icon_smile.gif ;)
