Does anyone know what time runway 24L opens for departures on a typical day at Manchester Airport?

Runway 06R/24L is closed between 2000-0600 in the morning, this is from the Aerodrome Booklet from Aread that we use.

Yes it does, between 1200-1500hrs, but as JasonT asked, "Does anyone know what time runway 24L opens for departures on a typical day at Manchester Airport?"

So would I have to arrive between certain hours to be able to watch the planes departing?I have been to the spot where you can stand next to the airfield, by runway 24L but there was only activity on the runway further away, closer to the 'Aviation Viewing Park' where Concorde is. That was around 1-2 p.m on a Friday recently. I know planes take-off from there, as I have seen videos on this website that are obviously filmed from the grassy mound next to 24L. I have also taken off from the same place on an Air France flight to Paris in May this year and saw people filming our A320 aircraft! Thanks for the advice everyone, by the way.

Yep, if you were there at 1-2pm then runway 24L was closed. It closes every day from 12 noon til 3pm. 12:00 - 15:00.

Dan.

Also, I spend a lot of time at MAN, but i do not have a car, what would be the best way to get to the 24L area? I have been down there a few times, but that was when i had my bike with me, or I had got a lift.

Best thing is to check the wind direction, if it's in the direction of 06L and 06R then go to the little hill next to the runway.I'm always going to go to the other side of the runway now as the view is better and you don't have to pay £3.00 to get in icon_lol.gif
I went last sunday:Beautiful weather,Beautiful spotting location and Beautiful aircraft!!!! Had a great time!!!
