I have just finished the book North Star Over My Shoudler by Bob Buck, and found it to be a very interesting and informative read. Buck, a retired Ex- Chief pilot for TWA, detailed in wonderful style the great aviation moments of his life. Does anyone know of other pieces of aviation literature like this?

I think one of the best known books of this sort is Fate Is the Hunter by Ernest K.Gann. It was a 1961 bestseller by the author that was semi autobiographical but read like an adventure novel, it describes his years working as a commercial airline pilot when civilian air transport was in its infancy.

"First Light" by Geoffrey Wellum is a great story about him flying a spitfire during the Battle of Britain, aged just 18. It then goes on about when he went to Malta. A very interesting read.
To buy: Amazon - "First Light"

Oh, I was gonna suggest that one. Terry sent me a copy two weeks before his accident down in Mexico. Kind of ironic...

Great book though.

A really good adventure novel based in aviation is "Last of the Breed".
It's by Louis L'Amour and is one of his best.

An Alaskan indian Colonel in the USAF, an Eagle driver, gets shot down over Kamchatka and sent to a Siberian prison. But the US pilot is in his element there and makes a run, on foot, the long way to freedom.

A great story.

Also, "Vision" by the founder of the Boeing Company, somebody Boeing. Hehehe!

So far I have read and recommend for young-just-starting out pilots or pilots that want to reminisce of the old days when flying was cheap and fun was high:
"Flight of Passage" by Rinker Buck

Then for us girls (okay you guys too) a New York Journalist flew her Luscombe from New York to California and back : "Zero 3 Bravo" by Marina Gosnell

Next:"Forever Flying" by Bob Hoover...His story will knock you socks off.

There is SOO much more but this will give you a good start. Currently I am reading: "The Spirit of St. Louis" By Charles A. Linbergh.

Keep reading...it is a real treasure.
