Okay guys,

basically I have been selected as a candidate for an Avionics Engineer Apprenticeship program, the first stage of which is an Aptitude Test. I've been given no information on what is going to be on the test etc etc ?!!!

Can anyone help me out ?

I know something about avionics, as in how to use them. But are you looking for info from those who design avionics? Install, or repair? If it's the latter, I work closely with an avionics shop whose manager I've been attempting to recruit for forum membership here to help out folks like you. If it's the former, I'm not aware of any Garmin, et al, engineers that are members here. But maybe your post will prompt one to join.

Congrats on your selection and welcome to the forum!

Hey there Airforce2,
first of all, welcome to the forums! I hope and guess you'll enjoy the time here as we are a nice little bunch of aviation enthusiasts. This either because of our hobbys, jobs or just because. As you did, feel free to ask any questions that trouble your mind. Someone will come around to answer them as good as he can. On the other side if you know any answers or just want to join the discussion feel free to do so. Enjoy your stay!

Concerning your question. I'm not doing any avionics at work apart from the simple wiring and measuring stuff. I'd quess that your test will be the common style though. Basic knowledge in maths and physiks as well as some technical aviation related questions and understanding maybe. As your job will definately handle electric circuits I'd look into the simple AC/DC current, voltage and resistors. U = R x I and that alike. What is necessary for a basic electric circuit?
But to be honest I don't know what they specificly want from you.

Greets, Chill
