QUOTE(Tpattyii @ Jan 3 2007, 12:08 AM) I recently took a job flying a brand new Lear 40XR. I had to shave the beard and cut the hair a little but its really a small price to pay for all the improvements in quality of life. No more life attached to a pager. No more doors blowing open on Falcons and no more Lear 24's catching on fire...no more dirty boxes either. Now that Im not going to be on the road 25 days a month...Im not really sure what I am going to do with myself. Perhaps Ill go get that Harey Night Train Ive been looking at . So...Im very excited about my new position with this company and I felt it necessary to share the good news wih my friends at FL350. Yall take care, Tp2 http://www.seacoastharley.com/new_vehicle_...CatDesc=#detail <---Harley I don't know what to say either. It just seems like the worst possible thing to end like this... a couple of days before a major change in your life, and with lots of projects in mind. After 2 close calls that life finally got you, didn't want to let you free. I will remember these few words exchanged on here, that might not seem much but showed a very strong and generous person, ready to give his address to people who he felt might benefit from his advice. I was serious about considering going to that rocket racing league with you when we talked about it. RIP, and my condoleances to all your relatives. We will take care, and I'm sure you did all you could on that tragic night.

Aircraft down.
Today is a very sad day. I just found out that 2 lives have been lost during an approach in Mexico. They were flying an Ameristar Lear 24 into Guadalajara, Mexico. I knew both of the pilots and knew the Captain well. He was one of my favorite Captains to fly with. Both men will be sorely missed by their friends and loved ones left behind. Both men leave behind wives and children who will miss them the most.
This is the first time in my career that I've known someone that has perished on the job. Our profession is not easy. Especially the type of flying we do at our company. We fly poorly equipped, very high performance jets into unknown airports, in mountainous terrain, in bad weather, in the dead of night. It just does not get any tougher than that unless you are being shot at. I take pride in the fact that not all pilots are cut out to do this type of flying. It is hard.
My eyes have opened a little bit to see that it is also dangerous. There is a tremendous amount of risk in doing what we do. People that have office jobs or jobs sitting behind a desk have virtually zero risk in their work environment. Pilots are sitting in the front of heavy tubes of aluminum, screaming through the atmosphere at speeds god never intended our frail human bodies to endure. At 45,000ft above the earth, we are flying at 80% the speed of sound in an environment that would render us unconscious in 8 seconds and dead in less than 60 seconds with out pressurized oxygen being forced into our lungs. And this is just during cruise. During take off and landing we are flying that same heavy tube of aluminum at speeds over 150 m.p.h in very close proximity to terra firma which is unforgiving to say the least. This profession of mine is filled with risk.
With the risk comes reward. I cant think of doing anything else with my life other than flying. Even if I won the lottery and never had to worry about money again, I'd still fly. I'd start my own non-profit air ambulance service and continue to "fly for a living".
Godspeed to Dan Hughes and Terry Patty, I am going to miss both of you. Blue skies and tailwinds fellas. http://freightdawginit.blogspot.com/2007_0...it_archive.html

I just can't believe it.
He was a lovely guy.
Too nice and far too young for what happened to him.
Why did he have to take Terry so soon? And like this?
I just don't understand, and I don't know how much more I can take either....
To see you when I wake up is a gift I didn't think could be real. To know that you feel the same as I do is a three-fold utopian dream. You do something to me, that I can't explain. So would I be out of line if I said, I miss you.
I see your picture, I smell your skin on the empty pillow next to mine. You have only been gone ten days, but already I'm wasting away. I know I'll see you again, whether far or soon. But I need you to know that I care, and I miss you.
Peace be with you Terry, I miss you, and I'll never ever forget you.
<3

My sympathy goes out to the family of Terry Patty. His untimely passing can only bring heartache and tears for them and I feel with them.
I didn't know Terry very well. We had PMd a couple of times regarding his hometown of Grapevine, TX. I do know that he was a gentile spirit and held no malice for anyone, and he held this forum and its members in a high place in his world. When word of his death hit this forum it affected everyone of us the same way. It was as if a childhood schoolmate we had grown up with had suddenly been taken. Even though we had never been face to face with him he had become a member of this family that we are.
There is a core of members here, and it grows bigger all the time, who have opened ourselves to eachother and become closer than most people ever get to people they meet on the internet. Just as with our real families, when one of us isn't here for one reason or another, we all miss him. If we remember nothing else about Terry lets all give him the credit for being the one who made it clear to the members here just how much of a family we are, and how much we've all come to mean to eachother. I believe flightlevel350 is unique in that aspect, and Terry and the rest of us is why.
