Hello:

I recently found this forum and I was amazed by the number of members and the knowledge that you have.

I am learning to use the UNS-1 FMS. I only have books of it. I would need a PS FMS trainer in order to understand how a FMS without a scratchpad works. Does anything like this exist? Is anybody willing to help me?

Thank you,
John Richards

C, E, K or M Model? You can get one for these for (wait for it, can you hear your credit card screaming?)... $895. A quick search will reveal one for you.

Sorry I can't be more help.

He likely is learning the C model, PM.

The thing about the UNS-1 is that it's pretty much user-friendly, but you need to USE it in order to KNOW it. Way back when, I read the book on the UNS-1 and thought I then knew the box. Got in the plane (Learjet 55 with UNS-1M) and... was completely lost.

In order to really know how to use even the most basic aspects of the UNS-1 (like loading a flight plan) it really takes practice. If you happen to be going for a type rating a lot of the schools do have a training device that allows you to practice without having to waste valuable sim time banging your head on the glare shield because you can't load the departures, arrivals and approaches you'll be "flying."

Practice, practice, practice...

Good luck.

I know what it's like during your first few sessions doing battle in the sim. with an FMS which absolutely refuses to play ball! Fortunately, somebody else pays for my sim. time but even then you can feel the pressure to stop typing and start flying the thing (that is shortly about to fail - unreliable these simulated aircraft).

Hello All!

Check out www.simsair.com, there is a video tutorial for the UNS1 FMS along with a few other FMS training videos.
