The V2500 from International Aero Engines consortium (IAE) has been choosen by IndiGo to power the 100 A320s they ordered to Airbus at Paris Airshow in June (MoU).

Well thats good news for IAE. I prefer the IAE over CFM engines for the A320 because of the variety of companies who are involved in making the engines.

I have just read that International Aero Engines consortium (IAE) is looking forward to around 1.4 billion US$ they will earn from this job. The German MTU, a member of IAE, is happy to earn around 150 million US$, plus the money they will get for the spares they will sell to the airline.

"IndiGo" is an Indian low-cost carrier, which surprised with its enormous order of the 100 "A320", they bought the engines for.

Rolls-Royce is going to have the lion's share with contract worth 600 million US$.

I noticed that Airbus was trying to market the new A380 to low cost airlines, which suggests that it would be an economically favourable option, so why do low cost airlines use the smaller planes like the 737 and A320? Would the seat prices be lower if they operated a single A380 instead of multiple A320 aircraft, and if so why aren't they doing that?

Because its not just getting 800 passengers from A to B in one week but rather getting 200 one one day 200 on the next....etc. Its got to do with the frequency not just the quantity of air travellers.
