What about this Russian ground effect plane....

That one is still at Monino (museum). The engines were mounted toward the rear and set up on the stub wings that aren't there. airliners says it's a rescure vehicle but I was told it was some anti-sub unit.

BIG, FAST (for a BOAT) and gawd-awful UUUUUgly (what you do when you want to spend "unlimited state money" on a "good idea... DA tovarich!"

Of course, not to be out done (no, I don't have a picture) - there was a "sort of" Aztec fuselage looking "flying in ground effect" watercraft in Norfolk (somewhere near the water - I saw it when I was crossing a bridge maybe 7 years ago)

Nothing bizzare about the Cessna in this pic, frightening is more like it. icon_eek.gif

Hope no one was fatally injured.

Does the fact that, strangely enough, I find this pic funny make me a bad person? icon_neutral.gif

From what I've read, this was staged for a movie.

I was out with a friend trying to setup my darn R/C Extra's engine last Friday, when a nice guy stopped by us and started to chat with us. It happens that he owns one of these, probably even at the airfield 1km from my place, haven't asked. But I'd really want to see that thing for real. Empty weight of the airplane is 75kg... Next to this he has a Bonanza, and has flown the Catalina to Duxford airshow this year... He was very friendly and interested too in our "little" thingys. Well, his Cricri's engines are about the same size as my Extra's one icon_lol.gif

I might get to see his machines once I have some free time again...

The Seawind? It is interesting, but I kinda think of it as a Diamond/Lancanair amphibian. plane.gif

Shotgun

pellet gun is more like it - you don't want to pop them all at once

BTW - this was the mode of the strange balloonist in California numerous years ago - helium weather ballons and a lawn chair. Some commercial pilot got "upset" that he had a "gun" (bb-gun of course) - he made it to 20000 ft IIRC
