I don't know about everyone else, but it seems to me that military planes built from the start up to the 1970's appeared to be more attractive than todays planes. I mean there were lots of designs, various sizes, and so many types. For example, take the F-101 Voodoo, F-105 Thunderchief, P-61 Black Widow from WW2 and I love the designs. When I look at fighters that are still in service like the F-15, It looks so dull. The only modern plane I like are the F-16's and maybe the new F-22. What do you think about these older planes?

I thoink you are right. Going even further back though the Spitfire has to be the best pre 1970s war aircraft. It is a sleek aircraft and that Merlin engine sets hearts pumping.

Hmmm... i think its going to chance very quick.
The old ones, yes they have a lot of hours so more trustable.
About the F-22, his entry in different air forces is coming.

Uh, oh. You've awakened the beast. I'm a warbird NUT. I love those things. Yes, the older planes were far more beautiful. And right up until the 70's, too, yeah.

My college buddies and I often wonder why we couldn't just revert back to the old WWII planes. They were so much more elegant. (I think we decided that right after watching Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. )

I like all planes, but the older ones are the best.

like all planes they only look great in person. for example i think the 767 and md-80 series are ugly as sin on the computer screen or in pics but in real life they look great. same with warbirds especially the corsair and p-51.

I agree that older planes look much better than today's military planes. We have some nice birds today but it's not the same as it was some 50 or 60 years ago. I am most impressed by WW2 jet fighters. I've seen Me-262 and He-162 in museum and they're so beautiful. Of course, Fw-190, Bf-109, Hurricane, P-51 and P-47 look great too. And of course one of my favorites - Spitfire. By the way, those V-bombers look cool as well. 8)

Speaking of the V Bombers, the Vulcan will be returning to flight in the not so distant future. It is a truly great classic.
