hey,

well i'm crazy about planes, and nobody think that i'm a nerd, actually i'm kinda popular around here, so if any1 makes fun of u, they're just a bunch of lowlives who don't have any hobies or a plan for a future, so they're jelous enough to make fun of others which do, i thnk thats what most ppl call "cool". where i am, cool is a nice guy who has a lot of friends and is happy..

In my opinion people see us as nerds because they feel been a pilot is to big of a dream to go after, I'll have the last laugh. Another thing that bothers me is that people think your cool if you know alot about cars and anything got to do with them. Come on which is better, Cars or planes ( I have a feeling this is going to start another debate) Us geeks are the one's that will be flying them around the world and at least we have a dream, If they don't discover one and go after it they'll regret it and they'll be cleaning my mansion and swiming pool on saturdays! (just meesing)

Actually, my friends think what I'm doing is really neat, and I'm in the "cool" group of the school, so I guess it just depends on people B) B)

So what if we have an interest. One of many interests, why they pick on that one is just stupid in my opinion. I could go round saying that other peoples hobbys are crap but i don't because i respect what their interests are.

Superb quote young man!

At the end of the day, any interest or hobby that requires brainwork, and that is not something physical, is probably perceived as geeky by the great unwashed.

Do their opinions matter? When you're a teenager, probably! At that age you're concerned with fitting in but later in life you'll be more concerned with being different!

Sounds cheesy but be yourself, enjoy what you do and you'll reap the benefits in the future. One day you'll be on that flightdeck!

THEY (the general public - who know J--k) think we are Nerds/Geeks because...

we are happy - and, unfortunately, they are not. So they seek alternatives like - talking about football. The ball is kicked - into - the - net. Duty carried out.

So they get ex-footballers to come on telly (T.V., for all you colonial Dudes and Dudessesses) and talk about the-(soccer ball) going - into - the - net.

Then the views (general public) go to a Pub, and drink lots of beer - because they cannot think of anything to do, and it bonds society together talking about the - ball - going = into - the - net.

So while they are talking about this major operation - they are not roaming the streets beating each other up.

When the Geek/Nerd, lands a 747 in a Typhoon, their (the publics) viewpoint is that Geeky is some great hero.

The other day, an F100 had a microswitch failure on the gear, so they did not get three greens etc., etc...yawn.

So, they did the fly by the tower. Yup, gear down chaps. Then all the pilot has to do is land it. If there is a bump followed by a grinding scraping sound then the gear folded back up again - tough titty. If, the gear stays down then its prob a micro-switch or something or something engineering. ok? So this jet lands, all ok. Fantastic. The next day I am on the net drinking hot Chocolate because its snowing like a ----- outside and there is this chick going on about how great the (nerd/geek) pilot was in landing the jet!!! and she went on and on and on and on....

So, take no notice of the maddening crowd who follow each other around like ants.
Be a Nerd and a Geek - for the world needs Nerds and Geeks - thats why we get the flying jobs or other related aviation jobs which are generally total, for us and they spend their time watching soccer and drinking beer - all -the - time. Duh.

I'm one of those popular kids at my school due to the fact I play hockey, im nice and funny (and super hot icon_razz.gif ) etc.. but my friends look at me funny when they come over and I'm playing fs2004. I have a friend who couldn't be less interested in airplanes but is going to the same college as me for ATC. Anytime I'm playing FS he asks me to blow something up.

Well, my friends laugh at me when we see a plane flying over my town, but in a friendly way. I mean, they don't mean to hurt me. I think they'll like planes in the end... But to me, I don't bother if anyone tells me that I'm a nerd...
