hey guys! I Don't know if anyone will remember me, or even if theres many of you left from when i frequented these forums. Anyway, I'm Paul, from Scotland and i joined this site around 7-8 years ago. I was on regularly, but when i turned 18 i joined the army.(Feb 2007) I ended up serving for 6 years in the infantry, 4th battalion the royal regiment of scotland to be precise. During this time, i had to re-prioritise, and my love for aviation faded away really. However, after serving in Iraq, Afghanistan for a year and living in Germany for 5 years i terminated my service, to go in search of bigger and better things. BASICALLY, I'm back, my passion for all things aviation is with me, and i wanted to formally say hello to anyone who knew me, and to everyone who's joined since Paul PS. Im having a cringe-fest looking through my younger selfs posts, just so its clear, i've grown up

QUOTE(Kilrah @ May 13 2012, 02:27 PM) Yep, nice to read a post from you again! Still remember that day... close to 7 years ago! Oh, my goodness. It has been that long ago already, Andre. Memories of Geneve and such. To give news, I tested for my China airline transport pilot certificate, and passed (flying the Boeing 737-300 sim). The written was very difficult as the translation from Chinese to English was far from exact. But I passed and that is what counts. I have been offered a captain position on a Gulfstream G200, based Beijing. Not my first choice, but the money is good and I do like China and the Chinese. It's gonna work. I'm looking forward to it. 旅行好

Updated news: I finished training in Dallas, Texas and am type rated on the Gulfstream G200. Quite different from the Learget 60 I have been flying. (Should I change my username now?) The plane is now officially based in Hong Kong (VHHH) instead of Beijing. I have taken an apartment in Shekou, Nanshan, Shenzhen. It's a good place, 19th floor with a view of the bay. My Mandarin needs lots of work as almost everything is, of course, in Chinese. With the move and the new plane I should not find myself bored too often. I was hired as a direct entry captain, somewhat unusual considering I am completely new to the aircraft. No complaints, though, and the pay is satisfactory. The plane is quite nice. I have S/N 248 and it's well equipped. It's almost new as only 250 G200's have been made (last one delivered Dec.) being superceded by the G280. I'm assured of an upgrade in the not-too-distant future as well. I'm on the list for the Gulfstream G450/G550 or, secondly, Falcon 7X. Bern, no I don't miss Santa Fe all that much. I hope your move works for you as well as mine has for me. 晴朗的天空和一帆風順

Hello everyone!
It's nice to hear from you all again, it's been so long.
The aviation bug is flowing through my blood at quite a rate, still haven't found my place within it though. Time for that to happen yet.
I was 14 when I joined here, I'm now 21. Where have the years gone! It's a shame that this place isn't quite the bustling place it once was, but here's hoping we can all check in every once in a while for a catch up, as old distant friends tend to do, or not so distant!
Take care all, really good to hear everyone's moving up in the world. Jumbolvr, massive respect for serving us, hope you found the experience valuable and find something else you love doing :-)

Yes a lot of folk have moved on but I do not seem to have although I am not long back..I have been to the UK flying with Emirates and now am a Silver card holder which gives me extra luggage allowance.. plus priority boarding and use of the business class lounge at Dubai... I was lucky though to be upgraded to business class from Singapore to Brisbane.. and that was superb!!
