There's nothing quite like a simple question is there? FMC programming courses last for a couple of days and are normally run along side a technical course for an initial type qualification. Then about 20-30 sectors of line training makes sure that you are reasonably proficient. But as this is just to play about a bit, may I suggest that you do a search on "FMC 747-400" and see what turns up?

I believe iFly has a pdf manual included with their package. I could be wrong though. Your best bets are to try Avsim.com or Flightsim.com and do a search of their file libraries. There might be a tutorial on those sites by Ifly, or by other users of the aircraft. If that fails, you could try Youtube, searching for user videos with the keyword "iFly." Someone may have put up a video tutorial. I found this one, I'm not sure how useful it is to you though.

Best of luck.

Hi brothers?
When did this place become a Fraternity?

Anyways I'll give you hint, first you need to tell the FMS where it is.

Ha, lol. You're half way there now.
If you have flight sim, I suggest using an addon that has a decent FMC with it; such as PMDG or Level-D. Sure, it's just a sim, but it's got the basics and it'll help you along.
Try a search on Google for manuals or guides too.

Your question is fairly vague and very expansive and can't really be answered on a forum, but if you have any other particular questions on one specific part or procedure involving the FMS, don't be afraid to ask.

Cheers,
Chris

Ifly is a very basic model in terms of system functionality.....master it and then continue to learn. The iFly product has a manual with it so read it. I haven't touched flightsim in over a year but i can assure you there are answers out there.

Flying is not about pushing buttons anyways....If you want realism, learn your nav aids and fly in some tricky airspace....thats where the fun begins.

second hint: make sure its turned on first...

You then have something which is really turned on and really knows where its at...

I don't know much about FSim but in the real airplane environment the FMS thinks it knows where it is. It's just waiting for you to confim it. If you try to tell it that you're in Las Vegas, New Mexico and the last time it shut down it was in Las Vegas, Nevada, the system will tell you that it's confused and needs to be updated. In some cases this is a normal event. If there is a problem with one of the FMC computers and it has to be replaced for maintenance, the new FMC computer will think that it's still where it was the last time it was shut down. It'll need updating.
