Second time this happened in one day for Delta, after the whole A380 ordeal. What do you think, bad coincidence or is poor/inadequate maintenance to blame?

Also, just want to say hi to those that remember me (and the many that don't)..I used to be pretty active around here until my degree took me over but hopefully I'll be around from now on

It seems to be a typical bird strike.

The pilot radioed the tower soon after takeoff reporting the engine trouble and saying he believed that the blowout was caused by a bird strike, officials said. Port Authority Police sources said that so far there was no direct evidence of a bird strike but the investigation is ongoing.
