Ok, I realise, these people have been and gone. "Effective Promo" and other en-passant fly by night abusers of this system, one or two I see, have been deleted.

This is an Aviation Website. The members on this website range from experienced professional pilots to young student pilots and other people - whose interest is in specific aviation topics.

So, you people who just happened to stumble on this site and wish to post abuse or unrelated unsolicited mail. Do us all a favour and stay away in your empty and lonesome lives.

For all those of you who are interested in Aviation - we welcome you here and hope to promote the interest you have in aviation and enter into discussions of a technical or flying nature and exchange ideas, almost like an aviation university.

There are great videos providing all with shots of aircraft that few of us can get to see in real life, either because we are deep in studies or training or we are in the aircraft flying it - or there maybe some who live far away from an airport and cannot get there for some reason. Videos taken of flights or aircraft landing and taking off, often at great expense and patience of the photographer.

There are also experts in engineering - flying of aircraft - and many more in the diversity of aviation and aviation related topics.

For those of you with a passing interest in our website, we hope you enjoy some of the free videos on show here and also the discussions which sometimes can get kind of heated and are sometimes comical or funny, to you people we offer you a warm welcome.

For those few others (and you know who you are) with a view to sending personal messages of obscure e-mail addresses or websites and who are not proper members of flightlevel350.com and who soley wish to abuse - then take my advice, stay away, because - we don`t want you here and our website is carefully monitored anyway. You are not welcome here.

For the record, you're trying to talk to automated computer programs that browse the web and spam every forum they stumble upon. I doubt they'll understand you icon_wink.gif

Unfortunately its going to happen in older versions of the forum software. The latest has reCAPTCHA installed which is far too clever for anything automated to get past. Believe me I noticed the difference! worth the effort.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We recently experienced an increase in un-solicited spam messages in both our forums and via our private message network. Please note these attempts are automated robots creating accounts, not individuals creating accounts.

In the past few days we have enacted numerous process and stops in place to prevent any further spammers from creating accounts on the forums. We are presently aggressively pursuing each case to ensure a quality and respectful community at FL350. If you receive any un-solicited private messages or forum posts please report the issue directly by creating a support ticket and we will immediately investigate the occurrence:

The Moderators have worked hard to try and delete all the rubbish which has inundated this site the past few weeks or so.
No one wants to look at an Aviation site and see trash. It creates a bad impression of a very professional site. The site owners are making good progress at limiting the spammers but we will still continue to be vigilant.

WIthout sounding like I'm telling you how to run the site, the most effective way to combat it, saving you and the moderators a lot of time, is to upgrade the forums to IPB version 2.3.6. I am an IPB user myself, and have encountered this problem, upgrading solves these issues, if you don't want to take it from me, read on their site for yourself. IPS has addressed the issue and released a solution for it, its not just this site that has been a victim!

I'm only trying to help!

Karl,

Not at all. We appreciate your feedback and always welcome your suggestions. Without going into too many technical details that is one of our options. The forum skin is complex and will take time to modify to be able to accept the upgrade. We put measures in-place to stop the spam immediately in the mean time.

If I'm honest its probably one of the most heavily modified skins I've seen... I just wanted to stress the upgrade as I know from an admin point of view what its like, you could always hold back until IPB3...

Cheers,

Karl.
