Wow that does not look like an easy task! Did the pilots who flew into Kai Tak need any sort of special training?

We did. It was either a trip into Kai Tak with a check airman or an approach in the sim. It was also encouraged to have the captain fly the approach. But few captains took the leg from the f/o's. How are you going to learn if you don't do it? By far my all time favorite approach. I always ran out after we blocked in to make sure that 1) the airplane was still in one piece, and 2) to see if I had managed to snag a bra and/or a pair of panties with the right winglet.

Hmm. A naughty sense of humour there Ranger. icon_wink.gif .Made me laugh anyway. I love to watch the landings. Luckily on my last flight the plane had cameras and we could watch the approach, landings and take offs..Just brilliant to see. plane.gif

And, where is the Kai Tak of today, we ask ourselves?

Ranger, you never cease to amaze me - and having flown Kai Tak you remain a diety in my heart.

But listen up kids there is a nice one on the block. Namely, Innsbruck the opposite runway to the ILS one - a visual app. I think the IFR app is 26 or something, I am bad, I flew it on the sim about a dozen times, so should know it off by heart.

Yep, at Innsbruck you are never lonely, the rocks are close company. Quit coffee and fly an Innsbruck (at night, in IMC) and you will never seek a stimulant again.

Check it out - its a basket.

Innsbruck is fun, there is no escape. hmm hmm - I thought when the proverbial hits the fan then Max climb RWY hdg o`head the rwy then 060 to RATT may get you out - I jest, I know nothing, what do I know?
