Departure from rwy 9L at KPBI. We made an immediate left turn after takeoff because of storms that were off the coast. You can see the ramps of the new I95 airport interchange. We had to fly the inland route all the way to Boston because of weather over the Atlantic Ocean. Went to Boston to meet some VATSIM buddies. What a Blast! More videos to come of our flights to Nantucket and Block Island in a Piper Arrow.

Me landing in Polykastro, a small airfield 35 nautical miles from Thessaloniki International Airport, in a Cessna 172. I tried to land on rwy 36 but the strong tailwind forced me to make a missed approach and land on rwy 18. Enjoy!!

Part 1/2 of my flight from Lisboa to Geneva. This part shows the takeoff on rwy 21 followed by a long 180° left turn over the city center and the river ‘Tejo’. You can see these things at these points in time or around them – the total video length is 04m44s: - 00:00: On the horizon line on the right side you see 4 white peaks – these are the 4 pillars of the ‘Vasco da Gama’ suspension bridge of 1998, which you will see later again. - 01:00: The airport terminal area with the second runway, rwy 17, just in front of it. - 02:00: Just on the right of the plane engine you can see the ‘Marquis of Pombal’ square with the long avenue ‘Avenida da Liberdade’. This avenue leads to the commercial district, which was built after the destruction of the 1755 earthquake. You can see in the prolongation of this avenue and just on the river bank the square ‘Praca do comercio’(see at 02:06 on the upper right side). The streets in this rebuilt area were drawn in perpendicular lines under the supervision of the ‘Marquis of Pombal’. - 02:15: The river bank of ‘rio Tejo’ with its large inner bay. The sea coast is on the right side of the plane some 10 km away. - 02:41: The shadow of the plane on the water surface just on the right bottom corner of the video. - 03:06: The access ramp to the Golden Gate style red colour bridge named ‘ponte 25 de Abril’. If you follow the access ramp along the ‘Monsanto’ park you can see a white strip crossing the road – that is the ancient (roman?) aquaduct. - 03:08: A nice condensation cloud over the right wing. - 03:13: The other river bank with the town of ‘Almada’. - 03:23: Zoom on the airport area – you can see the shorter runway 17 and part of the long runway 21. - 03:32: Zoom on the Expo 1998 site: The square building in this square ‘pool’ is the oceanarium. - 03:35: Zoom on the Expo 1998 site: The ‘Vasco da Gama’ tower . The 1998 Expo site started around the oceanarium and ended with the tower. (Vasco da Gama (c. 1469–December 24, 1524) was a Portuguese explorer who was the first person to sail directly from Europe to India - see Wikipedia). - 03:43: The 4 pillars of the ‘Vasco da Gama’ suspension bridge. - 04:25: On the bottom of the video you can see part of the ‘Montijo’ airport area - 04:28: Zoom along the 17 km long ‘Vasco da Gama’ bridge Thanks for watching!
