(TF-JMM) F-50 of Air Iceland landing at Isafjordur in west Iceland. This is perhaps the most extreme airport in the world with mountains all around the airport. The approach is a 230 degree turn over a mountain slope I climbed up on. This approach is dreaded by passengers and can be pretty extreme to watch the mountains out of the window in a 35 degree turn. This is a category D airport and if there was a E this would be it. Air Iceland has been flying to this destination dayly for 50 years on DC-3, DC-4, Vickers Viscount, F-27, F-50, Metro and smaller aircraft. I also recorded from the cockpit and the take off this day. On this day the wind was calm and I phoned the tower and asked the controller to ask the pilots to do the U-turn approach for me.
