The aircraft was carrying a tail section manufactured by Alenia Aeronautica for the first prototype Boeing 787 and was flown from Grottaglie, in Italy to Boeing's Everett factory via this fuel stop at Prestwick, in Scotland.

(MM62127) Company demonstrator Alenia C-27J Spartan performs some spectacular rolls through the airspace above the Partica di Mare military base near Rome. The C-27J Spartan is an advanced development of the Aeritalia G222 using modern engines and propellers as well as a glass cockpit and modern electronics.
