The video starts looking at Mount Hood on a very hot hazy day while waiting for takeoff clearance. Mt. Hood is a snow-covered peak that rises 11,249 feet (3,429 m) and is home to twelve glaciers. It is the highest mountain in Oregon and the fourth highest in the Cascade Range. It is located about 50 miles (80 km) east-southeast of Portland.
After takeoff from KPDX 28L, you can see runway 3 and then Portland. At the end of the video, you can see Swan Island and the Willamette River. Swan Island was the site of Portland's first airport, Swan Island Airport, dedicated by Charles Lindbergh in 1927 and it operated until the early 1940s when the island was converted to naval shipbuilding use for World War II. Swan Island is now an industrial area.
