Cessna 208
The Cessna 208 Caravan is a single turboprop, short-haul regional airliner and
utility aircraft built in the USA by Cessna. The airplane typically seats 9
passengers with a 1 person crew, although with a FAR Part 23 waiver, it can
seat up to 14 passengers. It has a typical cruise speed of 184 knots (340 km/h)
true airspeed (KTAS) and can carry close to 2,000 lb (900 kg) of payload.
The Caravan first flew in 1982, and was certified in October, 1984.
There are several basic models of the Caravan: the original Caravan I with a
600 shp (450 kW) Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-114, the 208B Grand Caravan with
a 1.2 meter longer cabin and 675 shp (500 kW) PT6A-114A, and the Caravan 675,
basically the Caravan I with the more powerful PT6A-114A turbine engine.
Cessna Caravans are also popular with mail couriers such as FedEx.
